Make Your New Year's Resolution Last

With 2021 just a few days away, here are some helpful types to make that New Year's Resolution Last.

We've been there and done that, year after year... Now, the real question is "Have you stuck with your resolution?" If the answer is no, don't feel bad about it. We all have to start somewhere and you already took the first steps to make the resolution and start it. It can be difficult to start a new habit or goal and it can be challenging to maintain it.

Here are some tips and tricks to make the resolution journey a bit of a smoother process:

Make a Vision Board or a List

Create a vision board or list that specifies all your goals. Remember categorize the goals into short and long term. List them in order of importance. Bullet point the length of time it will take to achieve and the steps needed to succeed.

Focus On a Goal At a Time

There's a saying in Spanish that says "Quien mucho abarca poco aprieta". In other words, when you try to achieve too many goals at once, you end up achieving very little. I give you props for having that desire to achieve your goals! Having goals and aspirations is a very good thing. However, learn to prioritize your goals and pick which one you want to work on first. Does not mean you have to put your other goals on hold completely just don't overwhelm yourself. Keep reminding yourself what your main goal is and spend that time and energy into achieving it.

Create Reminders

Take advantage of your digital calendars on your cellphone and computer. Schedule dates and times. If you work better with a physical calendar, purchase one and set it in your room, someplace visible. You can place a sticky note on a mirror, where you keep your car keys or in the kitchen, somewhere you will come in contact with each morning. When you mentally or physically check off your goal appointment on your calendar, that feeling of completion is indeed satisfying. Let that feeling be our fuel.

The More The Merrier

Have a loved one that has the same goal? Who said you have to do it alone? Have your friend, family or loved one join in on the fun. Having fun at the same time of working towards a goal, sounds like double the fun! You both can motivate each other, prompt reminders and create beautiful memories. Another option is to seek communities within your area that performs that hobby or talent. If you do not know of any areas, ask people, search online or call around. Someone is bound to know a connection.

Life is about taking that risk. It may make you feel vulnerable at first. Just remind yourself that anything worth doing is risky! Be safe of course :) Without risk we remain static. Take that risk and climb that mountain!

Cheers to you and wishing you all the best in 2021!

Much love,
